Transfer and International Students

While our curriculum is designed as a four-year program, The Academy accepts a select number of international students considering 9th or 10th grade each school year. Please contact the Director of Enrollment Management Amanda LePard first to discuss your options and the admissions process.

At this time, The Academy does not provide boarding options; however, The Academy partners with Student RoomStay (SRS), a reputable student homestay agency program for both local and international students who are in need of homestay options. For international students from China who are in need of homestay placement, The Academy partners with Cornerstone Education.

All international students must live with a parent or legal guardian appointed under the Illinois courts and/or be under the care of their international service/organization, regardless of legal age.

Once you have visited us virtually and submitted the online application with a non-refundable $150 application fee, we will coordinate and confirm your audition date. After you advance through the audition, we review your Academic Paperwork. All transfer and international applicants will have an in-person or phone interview, along with the parent interview. Tuition Assistance is not available for international students at this time.

Arts Departments

Dance

Students take a foundational class of ballet every day, delving deep into classical technique — also taking jazz, modern, pointe, pas de deux.

Media Arts

The Media Arts curriculum includes animation, poetry, fiction, screenwriting, film, photography, and experimental design. Above all, the Media Arts Department focuses on storytelling.

Music

The Music Department prepares students with different musical backgrounds for successful college-level music study and professional careers. Our curriculum is firmly rooted in the traditions of classical music and jazz.

Musical Theatre

In the Musical Theatre Department, students must master storytelling in three different disciplines: voice, dance, and acting.

Theatre

Theatre students will explore up to twenty topics in the discipline including all facets of Stagecraft and Scene Design, Directing, Makeup, Auditioning and more.

Visual Arts

Within the Visual Arts Department framework of studio practice, critique, and exhibition, students develop skills to articulate their ideas and process.
